Keep your site in Revit.
Mantle Place for Revit is an open source add-in that imports a bundle into the open project: terrain as a toposolid with imagery draped on it, context buildings, roads, water and more.
Draw an area of interest on earth, order it once, and import the bundle into Revit. You pick the layers and the level of detail. The import runs step by step, can be stopped, and names anything it could not place. Revit stays usable while it works.
Mantle Place for Revit is pre-1.0 and open source under Apache 2.0. It ships as a zip on the revit- releases of the mantleplace-dcc repository on GitHub.

One add-in, one ribbon tab
Revit 2025, 2026 and 2027
One build serves all three, on 64-bit Windows. Revit 2024 and earlier are not supported.
Copy the files or run Install.cmd
Either one puts the add-in in Revit’s Addins folder for your Windows account. Neither needs administrator rights.
A Mantle Place tab on the ribbon
The Bundles panel holds Vault and Import Bundle. The Account button on the same tab signs you in through your browser.
Your orders, from inside Revit
Vault lists your orders, prepares them, downloads them and imports them. Import Bundle takes a bundle you already downloaded.
Pick the layers and the detail
The Bundle Import window lists a box for each layer the bundle carries. Nothing runs until you press Import.
A re-import is refused, never duplicated
Importing an order a second time does not lay a second copy on top of the first.
What a bundle import brings in
- Terrain as a toposolid at the bundle’s georeference, with imagery draped on it
- Context buildings
- Roads and water as subdivisions, plus road centrelines
- Land cover and land use on land plans
- Published contours
- Hazards on a hazard plan
- Trees as planting families
- Site location, sun and time zone
Five steps, no administrator rights
- Close Revit. Its add-in files are locked while it is open.
- Download the zip from the latest revit- release and extract it.
- Run Install.cmd, or copy everything inside the Contents folder into %APPDATA%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2025, 2026 or 2027, the folder for your Revit year.
- Start Revit. The add-in is unsigned, so each Revit version asks once: choose Always Load.
- Open the Mantle Place tab, then the Bundles panel, and choose Vault or Import Bundle.
The zip and the release notes are on the latest Revit release.
Frequently asked
Which Revit versions are supported?
Revit 2025, 2026 and 2027 on 64-bit Windows, from one build. Revit 2024 and earlier are not supported.
Do I need administrator rights to install it?
No. The add-in installs for your Windows account only, whether you run Install.cmd or copy the files into the Addins folder yourself.
Why does Revit ask about the add-in when it starts?
The add-in is unsigned, so each Revit version asks once whether to load it. Choose Always Load.
How do I sign in?
The Account button on the Mantle Place tab opens your system browser. You sign in there, never in a password field inside Revit.
What happens if I import the same order twice?
The second import is refused. The add-in never lays a duplicate on top of the first.
Does it have known limits?
Yes, two, recorded in the release notes. On some site models Revit can drop the context buildings and the site model link, and the log says so. Large orders need a lot of memory and time: the release check peaked near 58 GB and took up to about 100 minutes. On a smaller machine, import fewer layers or a smaller area.
How do I remove it?
Close Revit and run Uninstall.cmd. It removes the add-in files from each Revit year folder and leaves your other add-ins alone.
Where is the guide?
Press F1 over any button on the Mantle Place tab to open the guide, or read it in the mantleplace-dcc repository.
