Mantle Place | Terms of Service

1. What Mantle Place Is

Mantle Place is a spatial data broker operated by Mantle Place LLC ("we", "us"). We pull from authoritative open-data providers — Protomaps, NAIP, and Mapterhorn in v1 — transform the result into production-ready outputs, and deliver them to you ("the curator") through a Cloudflare R2 vault with permanent re-access.

2. Account & Eligibility

You may use Mantle Place either logged in or anonymously through the email-link claim flow. By placing an order you confirm you are at least 18 years old and have the authority to bind any organization on whose behalf you order. One account per email address.

3. Payment, Pricing & Refunds

Pricing is computed at checkout from the AOI you draw. Payment is processed by Stripe; we do not store or transmit raw card details ourselves. If our pipeline fails to deliver the bundle you paid for — for any reason within our control — we automatically refund the order through Stripe and notify you by email. Refunds typically post to your original payment method within 5–10 business days.

Taxes. Where applicable, sales tax / VAT is calculated automatically at checkout based on your billing address (Stripe Tax). The price shown before tax in the curator is the pre-tax amount; the total you pay includes any required tax.

EU 14-day right of withdrawal (digital content). If you are a consumer ordinarily resident in the EU, UK, or EEA, Directive 2011/83/EU normally grants you a 14-day right to withdraw from distance-purchased digital content. Because Mantle Place bundles are produced on demand and delivered immediately (typically within minutes), we ask you at checkout to consent to immediate performance and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once delivery begins (Art. 16(m) of the Directive). If you do not consent, do not complete the purchase — we cannot deliver the bundle without the consent. If you completed the purchase but the bundle was not yet delivered when you change your mind, email contact@mantle.place within 14 days and we will cancel the order and refund in full. Once the bundle has been delivered to your vault, the withdrawal right is exhausted per Art. 16(m); the §3 refund policy for delivery failures still applies.

4. Data Licensing & Downstream Rights

Data licensing is governed by the upstream licenses attached to each source in your bundle (public domain, CC-BY, ODbL, and others). Mantle Place does not contractually restrict any downstream redistribution rights granted to you by those upstream licenses. 5. Service Availability

Most paid orders deliver within minutes; larger areas of interest may take longer. We will publish specific SLO targets once we have enough order volume to compute a meaningful baseline. The pipeline depends on third-party services (Stripe, Cloudflare R2, Google Cloud, Supabase, upstream data providers). We don't guarantee uptime or fitness for any particular purpose.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to abuse the AOI drawing surface to scrape upstream data at scale, attempt to reverse-engineer the produced-work transformations back into the source database structure, or use the platform to violate any law.

7. Liability

Mantle Place outputs are advisory and informational only. They are not surveying, navigation, engineering, life-safety, insurance, regulatory-compliance, or certified-mapping products. You agree not to rely on Mantle Place bundles for any decision that requires licensed surveying, professional engineering, structural analysis, code or zoning compliance, emergency response, navigation, flood-elevation determination, insurance underwriting, or any other use where life, property, or regulated obligations are at stake. You are responsible for obtaining the necessary professional review, on-site survey, and any required permits or certifications before acting on the data.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the order giving rise to the claim. We disclaim all implied warranties (including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement) to the maximum extent permitted by law.

8. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend access for violations of these terms, but your already-purchased bundles remain in your vault — that permanence is part of the product, and these terms don't override it.

9. Changes & Contact

We may update these terms; the "last updated" date above moves when we do. Material changes will be flagged in-product. Questions, disputes, and escalation: contact@mantle.place.

10. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

Mantle Place LLC is organized under the laws of the State of Delaware, United States. These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of Mantle Place shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction and venue in those courts. Nothing in this section limits your non-waivable consumer-protection rights under the law of your country of residence (including, where applicable, EU/UK consumer rights as referenced in §3).
